Assistant Professor of Intercultural Ministries and Executive Director of the Global Learning Center


Dave Livermore, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the Global Learning Center at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, where he also teaches Intercultural Studies. In addition, Dave is Co-Founder of Intersect, a ministry that provides leadership training and consulting to emerging leaders in ministries around the world.

Dave is widely published on youth ministry, missions, and issues of contextualizing the gospel. His most recent book, Serving With Eyes Wide Open, was recently awarded the  2006 Mission book of the year from Outreach Magazine. His next book, Cultural Intelligence: Improving Your CQ to Engage our Multicultural World will be released in Fall 2008. Dave has been interviewed and referenced by major news sources such as Atlantic Monthly, CBS News, Christian Post, Christian Science Monitor, Christianity Today, The New York Times, and USA Today.

In addition to his regular teaching responsibilities, Dave averages 35 national and international speaking engagements annually, addressing an average of 7500 leaders a year. He has worked with leaders in 75 countries across the Americas, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe. He is an elder at his local church and serves on several other boards.

Career Path: Pastoral ministry, 1989-1999; Leadership within parachurch organization, 1999-2003; Adjunct faculty at Bethel College, Judson College, Moody Bible Institute and Northern Baptist Seminary, 1999- 2005; Faculty, Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, 2004-present.

Research Interests: Cultural Intelligence; Worldwide Christianity; International theological education; and International Youth Ministry.

Personal: Dave and his wife Linda have two school-aged daughters, Emily and Grace. Some of their favorite family activities include traveling, biking, reading, eating Asian food, and walking to Jersey Junction--the local ice cream shop. They're actively involved in their local church where Dave serves as an elder.
