What if there is information that I feel should be considered when determining my financial aid eligibility but is not requested on the FAFSA?
Please communicate such information to the Student Financial Services office at Cornerstone University by attachment to the Scholarship Application. Please complete this form and return it to the university. If additional information is needed to consider your unusual circumstances, it will be requested.
Examples of unusual circumstances would be, unreimbursed medical expenses, change in family income, etc.
How will I know if I have qualified to receive any federal or institutional financial aid?
After you have submitted all requested information, the Student Financial Services office will evaluate the information using federal and institutional guidelines. Following this assessment and once you are approved for admission, you will be notified by Cornerstone University of the type(s) and amount(s) of financial aid for which you qualify.
Upon receiving your financial aid award letter you should return a signed copy to the Student Financial Services office indicating which awards you are accepting.
Financial Aid is award on a "rolling basis" until all funds are allocated. However, if the financial aid application are completed by the stated priority due dates, (Fall - March 31, Spring - November 1) the applicant will be considered for the maximum number of financial aid options.
Where can I get help in filing for financial aid?
You have several options if you need help during the application process. The Federal Student Aid Programs will help you in completing the FAFSA and interpreting the Student Aid Report (SAR). They can be reached at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).

Federal & State Financial Aid
9+ credits Full Time
5-8 credits Part Time
Institutional Financial Aid
12+ credits Level 1
9-11 credits Level 2

If a student is awarded the following...
Michigan Tuition Grant $1,000 per semester
Federal Un/Subsidized Loan $1,000 per semester
GRTS Grant/Scholarship $1,000 per semester
Enrolling in 5-8 credits in a semester will result in:
Michigan Tuition Grant $500
Federal Un/Subsidized Loan $500
GRTS Grant/Scholarship $500
Enrolling in 9-11 credits in a semester will result in:
Michigan Tuition Grant $1,000
Federal Un/Subsidized Loan $1,000
GRTS Grant/Scholarship $750
Enrolling in 12+ credits in a semester will result in:
Michigan Tuition Grant $1,000
Federal Un/Subsidized Loan $1,000
GRTS Grant/Scholarship $1,000
Is Financial Aid available for summer courses?
Loans are available to students taking 5+ credits in the summer, however institutional grants and scholarships are only awarded during the fall and spring semesters.
